Every City Should Have a Cat Cafe

eilisainjewelry.png

Okay, maybe I’m biased, cause ya’ll know I’m an official CRAZY CAT LADY but still, cats are SO awesome.

Which is why I’m so SO ecstatic that my cat claws are now at Crooked Tail Cat Cafe in Greensboro AND in Winston-Salem. I’ll paint the picture for you. Last year my husband and I took a lil’ trip to Greensboro, he had work and I had never visited so I walked around downtown (which is pretty awesome btw) and I happened upon Crooked Tail, of course, i had to pop in and get my cat fix while out of town. I had such a great time watching the cats play, there was one black tuxedo cat that seemed to own the place.

I was fortunate that when I visited, Karen Stratman, the owner, was there, and we chatted for a bit. I love Karen’s story, her animal journey of studying them at the University of Florida (go Gators, I’m one too). And it’s pretty badass that Karen opened the first cat cafe in North Caroline too! Of course a light bulb went off in my head. My cat claws would be purrrrrfect for their cat shop area. I can’t believe the idea didn’t dawn on me sooner.

And now here we are with my sterling silver cat claws are now being sold at Crooked Tail Cat Cafe! So if you’re in Greensboro or Winston-Salem pop in and give a cat some love and maybe you’ll walk out owning one. That’s the best part of Crooked Tail and all the other new cat cafe’s, there is the opportunity to find a loving home for a cute fur baby.

Fifi, my first cat model. Isn’t she fierce?!!

London Calling

Exquisite handmade pieces all the way from London!

The first time, and only time, I've been to London was roughly 14 years ago.  Just typing that makes me feel old! And it was such an awesome experience, as you would expect of visiting such a cosmopolitan and renowned city.  I long to visit again, however in the meantime I'll make do with having my jewelry there for a short visit.

As I had blogged about in my previous post about the Erebus Pop Up Shop, Eilisain would be making it's debut.  And I'm so grateful for the opportunity.  You see, for handmade products such as mine and many others in the slow fashion and small business' the chance to expose your brand to a wider audience takes work as well as the collaboration with individuals that want to champion your brand.  Thus, having someone like Chris Tull Williams, Managing Director of Erebus create an event to promote the handmade movement and appreciation for well made clothing and accessories is a huge benefit to my business as well as the slow fashion community.

Here are some fantastic photos from the successful event.  I'm loving the gorgeous pieces by Clon8 and futuristic leather pieces by Aumorfia.  These are not just clothing and accessories but objects of art and ones to be cherished.

A selection of pieces I sent over for the event.

As you can imagine, with online shops it's trickier for customers to get a sense of the feel and made of clothing and accessories, and for that reason pop up shops are a wonderful opportunity to try them out and put them on.

I hope you enjoy these photos and take a moment to look through all the other talented and amazing designers over at Erebus

Traveling with Your Jewelry this Holiday Season

A great DIY tutorial and reference for protecting your jewelry this holiday season!

We've all been there, you're getting ready to go on holiday and you've got to put your jewelry selection in a safe and secure place when you hit the road, but where do you put it?

Growing up my Mom collected jewelry and she always had the cutest little bags and pouches to hold her most sacred pieces.  And I reveled in going through them! So I had good practice in protecting all my favorite jewels.

Thus enters the jewelry pouch; a soft cloth bag that can hold rings, earrings and necklaces.  I have one that looks exactly like the DIY pouch below.  It's awesome because you can carry all your favorite pieces together and it barely costs any money! You can also purchase one like this at your favorite outlet shops or here on Amazon.

I hope this post and video tutorial help you this season to care for your most cherished pieces of jewelry.

As always thanks for reading and stay lovely!
